4-Week Pottery Wheel Foundations

An immersive, hands-on journey with the pottery wheel, Our 4-Week Wheel Throwing Foundations classes offer an immersive, hands-on journey with the pottery wheel, welcoming both beginners and intermediate students alike, curious about exploring the art of wheel throwing in a guided, supportive setting. Over four weeks, you’ll move through the full arc of the pottery-making journey. You’ll learn core throwing modalities, shape and refine your forms, explore trimming methods, and see how subtle shifts in touch and timing influence the clay. The last session offers an opportunity to select and finish your pieces with one of our ten magnificent studio glazes. With supportive instruction throughout, these sessions offer space to try new shapes, learn through repetition, and discover the techniques you naturally gravitate toward. Whether it’s your first time on the wheel or you’re returning with experience, you’ll emerge with the foundations of wheel throwing and the beginnings of your own creative voice at the wheel. After your final class, each piece will be kiln-fired with care, emerging as a functional object ready to be part of your everyday life. We provide unlimited clay throughout your session, after which you can select up to 6 pieces for firing. Additional pieces can be added for a fee. Your pottery will be ready for pickup in approximately three weeks.
